Crockett County Jail Release Paths
Crockett County Jail is the local custody checkpoint for many arrests and short county sentences. The Crockett County Sheriff's Department operates it. A person can leave after posting bond, receiving recognizance release, completing a sentence, receiving time served, obtaining a dismissal or court order, or beginning probation. Those are community release paths, though court duties or supervision may continue.
Departure may instead be a transfer. A Crockett County Jail detainee can move to TDOC after a felony judgment, another county on a warrant, or a federal authority. The research did not establish that the jail is an ICE detention facility or a 287(g) partner, but a valid immigration detainer can make separate federal confirmation relevant. “Not at Crockett County Jail” cannot distinguish these outcomes.
| Next status | Record that best identifies it |
|---|---|
| Community release on bond | Jail release entry and bond order |
| Time served or sentence expiration | Judgment and release authorization |
| Probation | Court order and, for a state felony, FOIL |
| TDOC transfer | Receiving-agency field and FOIL location |
| Other county or federal transfer | Jail destination field and new custodian's source |
Confirm Crockett County Jail Release
Start with the exact local booking. A full name alone can join the wrong person or mix separate arrests. Collect the approximate date of birth, arrest or booking date, booking number, and case number when available.
- Call Crockett County Jail at 731-696-2121 and identify the booking episode.
- Ask whether that person left the jail, on what date and time, and under which release or disposition code.
- Ask whether the destination was the community or a named receiving agency. Request the code legend if an abbreviation is used.
- Compare the jail answer with the Crockett County Circuit Court Clerk's bond order, docket, judgment, dismissal, sentencing order, or probation order.
- If the answer is transfer to TDOC, search FOIL with a TOMIS number or carefully matched name and birth data.
The complete county search and records-request paths are covered with context on the Crockett County released inmates search. A live roster, if one later appears, would show current custody, not the full release history.
Crockett County Jail Release Records
Request the booking and release record or jail-history record for one named episode. The sheriff's official pages did not publish the exact retained field list, a data dictionary, or a release-record form. The request can still identify the existing fields needed to verify the event.
- Full booked name, aliases, booking number, and admission date
- Arresting agency, charge, originating court, and commitment authority
- Bond type and amount, with whether bond was posted
- Release date, release time, authority, and reason or disposition code
- Destination or receiving agency and detainer disposition
- Booking photograph linked to that exact episode, if releasable
The court docket answers a different question. It can show whether the case ended in dismissal, nolle prosequi, not guilty, conviction, probation, time served, or another result. A bond order authorizes release conditions but does not prove when jail staff finished processing the departure. The Crockett County Jail record supplies that physical endpoint.
Note: Ask staff to define every local code instead of translating a short status into a broader result that the record does not state.
Crockett County Jail Records Contact
The state-verified address is 899 South Cavalier Drive. An older secondary address uses 884 South Cavalier Drive, so confirm the destination before mailing. No sheriff-specific records custodian name, email, counter hours, form, fee schedule, or retention schedule was verified online.

A focused request should seek existing records, not ask the office to compile an answer. Request inspection and, if needed, an electronic copy of the booking sheet, release log entry, release authorization, and booking image. State the full name, booking number, and approximate admission date. Ask for maintained release date and time, code and legend, bond or court authority, and receiving agency if transferred.
Crockett County Jail Request Rules
The Tennessee Public Records Act generally grants Tennessee citizens access to existing government records unless a statute makes material confidential. The right is to inspect or copy records the office maintains. It does not force Crockett County Jail to create a new report or answer a questionnaire.
If prompt production is not practical, the custodian should respond within seven business days by producing the records, denying access in writing with legal grounds, or explaining the delay and providing a reasonable production time. Inspection is ordinarily free. Copy, delivery, storage, and qualifying labor fees can apply under lawful policy, but no Crockett-specific jail fee schedule was found. Ask for an estimate before authorizing costs.
Juvenile files, sealed or expunged material, protected personal information, and other statutory exceptions can limit access. Ask for segregable public portions if part of a record is withheld. No official local retention period was found, so online absence should not be treated as record destruction.
Crockett County Jail Custody Snapshots
TDOC's county jail reports give two sourced population snapshots. On January 31, 2025, Crockett County Jail reported 46 people against 64 beds. The July 2025 snapshot reported 50 people against the same 64-bed figure. These are point-in-time state reports, not annual bookings, release counts, average length of stay, or current guarantees.
The TDOC jail summary report hub is the source for the state reporting series.
The capture helps identify the official report source while preserving the key limit: a one-day headcount cannot reveal who was released.
Crockett County Jail Status Reports
WBBJ has hosted weekly Crockett County Jail intake reports supplied as BluHorse Jail Management System PDFs. The reports list a booking cohort for a seven-day period and show a top-level HELD or RELEASED status at print time. Visible fields include name, booking and arrest times, physical descriptors, arresting agency and location, booking and case numbers, charges, and status.
That is not a release cohort. A person booked during the covered week and released before printing may show RELEASED. Someone booked that week and released months later would not logically become a fresh row in a later weekly intake report. The PDFs also do not visibly show the actual release date, release time, release reason, or individual booking photo. Use the booking number as a lead, then request the Crockett County Jail release entry.
A local transfer example reinforces the limit. One report uses “Arrest Location: TRANSFERED” while the status remains HELD. A transfer-like word in one field cannot override the report's custody status or prove release to the community.
Crockett County Jail TDOC Transfers
No state prison is located in Crockett County. A felony commitment can still send a person from Crockett County Jail to any TDOC institution selected through state classification. Do not pick a nearby prison and assume it received the person. The local jail's destination field and FOIL location are the proper records.
FOIL covers people currently or formerly in TDOC felony custody or supervision. Search by TOMIS number when known, or use the full legal name and compare birth information, aliases, photo, and the state identifier. Read the exact status. Incarcerated means state custody. Parole or probation means community supervision. Inactive requires the detail record and should not be translated into acquittal, expungement, or unconditional freedom.
When FOIL lacks enough history, TDOC's archived-record portal can supply a release authorization, discharge or sentence material, and nonconfidential movement history. Those records cover the state episode. They do not replace the Crockett County Jail transfer entry or the local court judgment.
Historic Crockett County Jail
A county historical account says Crockett County's original two-story brick jail was completed in 1874 for roughly $10,000. The building combined a sheriff or jailer's residence with cells. That history reflects an early local custody model, not the current facility's operation.
The Crockett County historical jail account cites a Crockett Times anniversary edition.
The image documents the source of the historical account. It must not be used to describe today's South Cavalier Drive jail, current bed figure, or release process.
Crockett County Jail Court Confirmation
The Crockett County Circuit Court Clerk is the local route for Circuit, General Sessions, and Juvenile court records, though public access differs by division. Ask for the docket, bond order, judgment or disposition, sentencing order, mittimus if maintained, probation order, revocation order, and later completion or discharge order that fits the case.
Dismissed, nolle prosequi, and not guilty are different non-conviction results. A conviction may include time served, jail or prison, probation, split confinement, fines, or more than one component. One case's completion also cannot rule out another hold. Call the clerk at 731-696-5462 and confirm the correct access method before sending private identifiers.
Crockett County Jail Federal Transfers
No federal prison or ICE detention center was identified in Crockett County. Federal or immigration tools matter only when the local record names that destination or an independent federal record identifies the person.
The BOP Inmate Locator covers federal sentenced prisoners and can show a release date or “Not in BOP custody.” That wording does not exclude Tennessee custody, ICE custody, parole, or federal supervised release. The U.S. Marshals Service manages many federal pretrial prisoners but has no comparable public historical release locator. ICE's locator focuses mainly on current custody and has age, spelling, identity, lag, and scope limits.
Keep the Crockett County Jail release separate from the next custodian's status. The local transfer record confirms departure from the jail. The receiving agency confirms what came after it.
